POLYUREA CANAL LINERS
Canal Liners are a new, cost effective way to line canals compared to traditional concrete. Traditional concrete lining can cost as much as 30 times or more compared to the cost of liners. It has been reported that more than 50% of the water in the U.S. has been lost due to seepage which could be prevented by lining canals.
Canal Lining also helps water move quickly to its destination and has several advantages for agricultural applications such as cutting down irrigation time, reducing erosion, weeds ,and of course, saving water.
We can custom fabricate a canal liner into manageable sizes and install them quickly. We also have customers who have installed them themselves with portable hot air welders. We provide many different products for canal lining applications with our VF380 being the most popular.
Please contact us today so that we can help your canals retain water.

POLYUREA LANDFILL LINERS
Landfill liners are used as a low permeable barrier which is placed under landfill sites. The liner prevents migration of leachate and its toxic byproducts into underlying aquifers or nearby rivers, preventing contamination of local water sources. Landfill cap covers can also be used to retain the gases that come off landfills and enable the gasses to be used for the conversion of electricity.
Landfill liners prevent leachate and waste liquid components leaking from reservoirs and subsequently entering and contaminating ground water.
Polyurea can be used in recreational sites, waste pits, canals, water storage, floor coverings, plating, fuel, oil storage and containment, landfills and many other applications. Mid-Valley Polyurea Liners are a great alternative to HDPE and PVC . Polyurea does not have the problem of cracking that HDPE has and can be made into very large panels to make installation easier. Polyurea also does not need to be extrusion welded and the prefabricated panels can be put together simply by spraying seamless liquid in the field.

Retention Ponds
Retention Ponds are becoming increasingly needed and are often a requirement. Retention Ponds are basins that catch runoff from higher elevation areas. They help limit flooding and help remove pollutants from the surrounding environment. Retention ponds are often developed in areas with significant construction where there are impermeable surfaces such as buildings, roadways & parking lots where rain water can’t penetrate. The runoff from these areas can flow into a retention pond to capture any harmful pollutants and any extra rainwater. The ponds are built to handle a quick influx of water and slowly release it into another pond, stream, wetland, or slowly back into the ground. Retention ponds serve to remove pollutants and trash. Since retention ponds are the drainage basin for an area, they are a magnet for items like garbage. Trash and debris are washed into these areas often after heavy rains. PVC bags and other waste enter from sewers that typically drain into a retention pond. Retention ponds also catch other pollutants from runoff such as petroleum products from roadways, fertilizers from fields, sediments, bacteria, suspended solids, and metals. These unwanted pollutants can have negative affects on the overall water quality, likewise pH, turbidity, nutrients, and even water hardness. The retention ponds collect these runoff pollutants and allow them to settle out of the water and get used up through biological phenomenon.
Retention Ponds are increasingly being used in the agricultural sector. Retention ponds are often fairly small, typically less than an acre. They are also usually shallow with slow sloping bottoms. There is also typically a large area around the ponds that can accommodate high water during rainy times.
Our VF series of liners and our Reinforced Polyurea can be excellent choices for retention ponds. Fabricated into large panels, often time’s only one panel is necessary. Mid-Valley can help make sure that there are no worries with your retention pond retaining the liquids it needs to.

POND LINER INSTALLATION TIPS
Delivery of Liner
- The materials will be delivered to the job site on a roll with protective Geotextile around the product to help protect the liner during transport. Visually inspect liner as much as possible. Do not accept obviously damaged materials.
- In unloading and on the job site, the rolled goods should be handled in a manner that does not cause damage to the liner.
- For unloading and job site handling, a front-end loader with forks or a forklift capable of operating under job site conditions recommended.
- The liner should be stored in a dry area. When possible the liner should be stored and covered to protect the liner from unnecessary UV rays. The cover should be securely fastened to provide coverage and protection for both the top and sides of the liner.
Field Installation Procedures if owner is labor the layout of Liners.
- During the unrolling of the liner it should be visually inspected. Damage or suspect areas should be noted and Mid-Valley should be notified immediately. Liners that have been damaged in transit or in the manufacturing process will be repaired or replaced as quickly as possible at the supplier’s expense.
- The trench around the pond area should be at least 20” to 30” deep
- The liner is folded in an accordion style. Liner will need to be put at one end of the pond and then pulled out lengthwise and width wise across the perimeter of the pond area. As you are pulling liner out over the pond area, secure areas of the pond with sandbags, etc. to help keep liner down. Leave the liner loose fitting in the installation, do not pull tight.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL LINER ON A WINDY DAY!
- Starting at one end of the liner, put liner up and over into dug trench and backfill with dirt. Backfill material should be placed in loose, but enough to keep liner into place until entire liner area has had some dirt placed into trench. Go back and finish back-filling all dirt around perimeter of the lined area and compact.
- Care should be taken when back-filling all trenches to prevent any damage to the liner.
Filling the Pond
- Once you start filling the pond, keep a watch on the liner to make sure all areas are good and secure and not pulling out of the trenches. Do not fill liner lined pond without watching periodically the progress of the pond filling up
